Portfolio Graphics Work

For my portfolio I created a series of pieces of work to show at my uni interviews.

I looked at how people grow up with age, but though the toys and objects of each stage. Then looking at how those toys and objects change for the male gender:

I picked out the colours from the robot and used them to add colour to my piece of work:

Here I found a piece of text I liked out of the bible, and decided to make a typography poster out of it, using a male figure as 'God':

This poster was an idea I had when looking through my younger sisters B-Line magazine she gets from school, which contains what to do after leaving school and other school infomation, so I decided to create a poster/ magazine advert or even front cover aimed at that spercific age. I did this by using colourful edits and making the poster look modern and almost 'cool' in their eyes:

Here I used a scanner, and scanned broken glass with my face behind it to create a horror themed DVD cover inspired by the cover to the film 'Human Centipede':

Here I wanted to mix the unfluence of pop music and culture with graphics, by creating a posters and two different album designs. I used bright colours as pop music seems to be heading a very strage direction with the influence of Lady GaGa and tried to me the singer look 'cool' and modern:

BBC Screens Motion Graphics

The BBC asked me and my class to all create a short piece of motion graphics on the theme of street, with our own ideas. I researched into dirrferent types of motion graphics including Stop Motion, Traditional Animation, and some previous adverts that use Motion Graphics.

This was my final piece:

The idea was that it's my opinion on what the streets of modern day society are like, and they are coming out of the head that thought them up.

Ted VanCLeave

Ive recently researched into VanCleave's work as it fits in nicely with my photography project,  I like how he photographs ojects, (in this series buildings) with the sky/ plain background behind it filling most of the image. These are the research pages I have done on his work:

I then went out and took some images of my own in this kid of style:

I really like some of these images, so I took the one I liked the most on Photoshop Elements and editied them in the same as VanCleave, I also editied a few images in a different style:

Stop Motion Practise

For my graphics project 'Motion Graphics' I have to make a piece of graphics using After Effects for the BBC to be displayed on the big screen in Derby. I plan on using a mixture different types of motion graphics. This was a practise run of Stop Motion, I thought it worked well, and will be using this video in my final piece of work for this project.

Dennis Morris 'Live Talk'

I attended a Dennis Morris talk at Burton Libary, on the 13th of October 2010. I found the talk very interesting as he told the stories of his journeys becoming, and being a photographer. It inspired me as one day i'd like to have my own interesting, funny stories to tell people.

                                                                       Dennis Morris

I liked his photographs he took of Bob Marley, I thought they were original, and very interesting to look at as I wasn't aound when Bob Marley was alive so it gave me insight on what sort of a performer and person he was. I found he was very fun, random and energetic.

Dennis Quotes:
"If you want to be a photographer, you have to go to the roots of photography and learn from the greats"
"The camera doesn't make the picture, its just a tool"
"Most people look but don't see"

As you can see here it shows him as a fun, and happy person to be around.
